Palermo defender Simon Kjaer is a target for Manchester United ahead of the January market.

United boss Sir Alex Ferguson is prepared to meet Palermo President Maurizio Zamparini's asking price of around £12 million for the young Dane, says Tuttomercatoweb.com.

Kjaer is viewed by Ferguson as natural long-term cover for Nemanja Vidic and Rio Ferdinand, who are both struggling with injury.
