Manchester United insiders say the players are responding to the "presence" of Louis van Gaal.

United have jumped to third on the table under the Dutchman.

"You can definitely tell he is the boss," a United source told the Sunday Telegraph. "When he walks down the corridor, he has a similar presence to Sir Alex.

"It is what this club grew accustomed to under Sir Alex and, for whatever reason, David [Moyes] did not have that air about him."
