Manchester United player-coach Ryan Giggs lost his rag during their derby humiliation at Manchester City. The Daily Mail says United's frustration at their drubbing by neighbours City on Sunday boiled over at half-time as Giggs launched a verbal tirade at fourth official Michael Oliver in the players' tunnel.
Giggs yelled at Oliver: "Get a grip of him. Man up and do your job."
There is no suggestion that Giggs, who will be 40 later this year, crossed the line between what is acceptable and what is not and his actions are unlikely to be included in the match report of referee Howard Webb.
Nevertheless, onlookers who witnessed the incident were taken aback by Giggs' anger and the former Wales international's outburst shows just how deeply wounded United were by what had happened in the first 45 minutes.
