Manchester United are eyeing a shock raid for Everton midfielder Stephen Pienaar.

The Daily Mail says the World Cup-bound South Africa playmaker is happy at Everton but is becoming increasingly concerned at a lack of progress over his future.

Negotiations have been on hold for the past few months and the uncertainty has alerted a string of leading clubs, headed by Manchester United.

Everton boss David Moyes could have his work cut out hanging on to his £2million bargain buy from Borussia Dortmund, though, after United, Liverpool, Chelsea and Tottenham all indicated an interest in signing him this summer.
