Manchester United are ready to upgrade Tom Cleverley's contract.

The People says he is already contracted to the club until 2015 but his rise in becoming a regular member of Sir Alex Ferguson's first team means he is set for a reward.

Cleverley, 23, currently picks up around £35,000 a week in basic pay.

But negotiations between now and the summer are expected to see him move towards the same level as Danny Welbeck - who recently signed a deal for just over double that figure.
