Man Utd plan new deals for EIGHT senior players

Manchester United are ready to extend the deals of a raft senior players this season.

The Manchester Evening News says United are prepared to extend eight players' contracts over the course of the season as they consider the futures of several first-team squad members.

David de Gea, defenders Antonio Valencia, Phil Jones, Chris Smalling and Matteo Darmian, midfielder Andreas Pereira and forwards James Wilson and Anthony Martial have all entered the final year of their existing deals. United have the option to extend all eight players' contracts by an additional year to prevent them from leaving on a free transfer in the summer.

United exercised their one-year option in six players' deals last term but sold Daley Blind and Sam Johnstone. Luke Shaw, Ashley Young, Juan Mata and Ander Herrera are free to talk with rival clubs in the January transfer window since they will have entered the final six months of their contract unless a renewal is agreed before then.
