Liverpool are prepared to challenge Manchester United for Nice midfielder Jean Michael Seri this summer.

The Mirror says Kop scouts have been watching the energetic 26-year-old star as Jurgen Klopp looks to beef up his midfield options this summer with Emre Can set leave after so far rejecting a new deal.

Manchester United had been checking Seri but boss Jose Mourinho has reservations believing the 5 foot 6 inch African star lacks the physicality he prefers in his players.

Mourinho hasn't shut the door on a potential deal for the £32 million rated star but United are believed to have other targets they are also monitoring.

Liverpool have emerged as newcomers to the chase with Jurgen Klopp's scouts at Nice's win over Lille on Friday night as well as the recent draw with Nantes.
