Manchester United are planning a swap bid for Everton defender Jack Rodwell. The Sun says United boss Sir Alex Ferguson is set to offer £10million plus out-of-favour Michael Carrick before the window closes tomorrow.
Everton are desperate to hold on to the Under-21 ace but may find the deal too tempting.
Rodwell, 19, is a central midfielder but can also play at centre-half and has been compared to a young Rio Ferdinand.
United have been unsure whether to go for the player now or wait until the end of this campaign when he has another season under his belt.
But they fear in a year's time his value will have rocketed which is why they may move before the transfer window closes.
