Manchester United boss David Moyes wants Everton coach Steve Round to join him at Old Trafford.
The Telegraph says Round is to leave his role as Everton assistant manager to take a senior coaching position under Moyes at Manchester United.
Round is understood to have been offered a six-year contract at Old Trafford in tandem with Moyes, who will officially begin work as Sir Alex Ferguson's successor on July 1.
Moyes is currently rebuilding his backroom staff at Manchester United following the departures of assistant manager Mike Phelan, goalkeeping coach Eric Steele and first-team coach Rene Meulensteen's decision to reject a role under the Scot.
