Man Utd now in strong position according to Carrick

Manchester United midfielder Michael Carrick says the club can be completely satisfied with the way they have begun the season.

The Red Devils went within a point of league leaders Chelsea after yesterday's controversial 3-2 win at Stamford Bridge and Carrick is of the belief that things within the United camp are very positive following 11 wins from 13 matches in all competitions.

Carrick was also targeting maximum points against United's title rivals with vital fixtures coming up.

"Especially against your rivals - the likes of Liverpool and Chelsea, Arsenal next week - it's important you take points off them," Carrick told MUTV.

"That's why it was important and next week is just as important. It's a good start to the season. We've obviously had a couple of defeats but we've bounced back and we're still in a good position, so we can be happy."

He added of the Chelsea win: "It's a huge three points. Not winning here for a long time against our biggest rivals, we wanted to put that right and we wanted to win for that."
