Manchester United No2 Mike Phelan was quick to avoid trouble for skipper Gary Neville during Sunday's 2-0 defeat at Liverpool.
The Sun says Neville could have been in trouble during the Anfield tie as he warmed up on the touchline.
He was constantly complaining to the linesman and exchanging verbals with Liverpool fans.
In the end, United assistant manager Phelan told him to get back to the dugout.
Neville has already had an FA warning this season after celebrating United's controversial injury-time win in front of City fans during the Manchester derby.
