Manchester United assistant manager Mike Phelan has confirmed their interest in Wolfsburg striker Edin Dzeko.

The Bosnia international is being lined up as a major end-of-season target for United.

Phelan revealed to the Sunday Mirror: "He appeals because he is tall and skilful and in many ways he is an ideal player for England.

"He has stature, good feet and produces very good performances."
