Manchester United No2 Mike Phelan heaped praise on their stand-in defence after defeat at Chelsea.
United more than matched the Premiership leaders before being undone by a late John Terry header.
Discussing the international break, Phelan told BBC Sport: "We have a couple of injuries and we will sort that out over the next 10-14 days and also rest a few players who are playing regularly now but I think we showed today that the players that came in - the Jonny Evans, the Wes Browns - are more than capable of being top, top-class football players.
"I think Jonny Evans in particular, he's showing real quality now and Wes Brown today was magnificent."
