Manchester United are edging closer to landing free agent Sergio Romero.
The Argentina goalkeeper left Sampdoria at the start of the month and has been in talks with United, Roma and Espanyol.
Sky Italia says United have now edged ahead in the race for his signature.
Romero played for United boss Louis van Gaal at AZ Alkmaar.
It's suggested United have tabled a superior package to Romero compared with a two-year contract offer from Roma.
