Manchester United officials have scoffed at Real Madrid's renewed bid for Cristiano Ronaldo.
Old Trafford boss Sir Alex Ferguson has rubbished reports from Spain suggesting Madrid have a£ 75million deal to take Ronaldo to The Bernabeu this summer.
A United source told the People: "Madrid aren't even the top team in Spain, let alone Europe, so it would be a backward step for Cristiano to join them.
"We expected more of this after last summer when their claims that Cristiano was joining them came to nothing."
