Ander Herrera is determined to exact his own individual revenge in the Europa League this season.

Herrera's former club, Athletic Bilbao, were beaten by Atletico Madrid in the Europa League final in 2012 and the midfielder is eager to write that wrong by helping Manchester United lift this season's edition.

However, before they can contest the final the Red Devils will need to successfully navigate Spanish side Celta Vigo in the semi-finals next month.

"The Europa League is a competition that makes me very excited because I lost the final three or four years ago and I want to take that knife from my back," said Herrera.

"So hopefully we can fight for that title as well, but I know Celta Vigo are very good. They are a very difficult team."
