Manchester United midfielder Michael Carrick insists they dominated this week's derby stalemate at Manchester City.
After much hype, the 156th Manchester derby failed to live up to expectations and was largely a battle between two packed midfields, with City particularly desperate, it seemed, not to lose the game or the bragging rights.
Carrick told manutd.com of United's more positive approach, "As a team we dominated the match for long spells and played some excellent football at times. We limited City to few opportunities and they had little possession in the final third. I thought as a team we defended really well, our shape was good, obviously the back four were tremendous again and Edwin made that one good save from a free-kick. Apart from that they really didn't trouble us.
"So we're pleased with our performance, but I'm frustrated we didn't win. We were certainly the team pushing to win the game. We always believe we can create a chance late in the game but we didn't get a clearcut one."
