Manchester United midfielder Michael Carrick has ducked the Steven Gerrard row sparked by Sir Alex Ferguson's new book.
Fergie says Liverpool star Gerrard has had a more prominent international career through displaying greater bravado.
He feels Carrick should have pushed himself more.
But the midfielder, 32, said: "What am I meant to do?
"I just play how I play and see where that takes me."
