Man Utd manager Mourinho still confident of title challenge

Despite the 11 point gap to Manchester City at the top of the Premier League, Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho is refusing to concede the title race.

United did their best to keep pace with City, getting a hard fought 2-1 win away to second-from-bottom West Bromwich Albion on Sunday. However, City winning against Tottenham on Saturday meant the gap stayed the same.

"I keep repeating the same [thing] but you persist with the same [thing]," Mourinho said to talkSPORT.

"We have to play every match. It doesn't matter where you are, it doesn't matter the points – the Premier League for us will end in May.

"Until that last match at Old Trafford against Watford we are going to fight for three points."

The attitude from Mourinho is understandable, given bigger points leads have been squandered in the history of the Premier League.

However, most fans and pundits realise it will take something very dramatic for United or any other club to overhaul City in the league this season. It would take a City collapse, and a near perfect second half of the season from United.
