Man Utd management delighted with Marcus Rashford progress

Manchester United U18 coach Paul McGuinness is delighted with the progress of Marcus Rashford.

The talented 17-year-old has taken on extra responsibility in attack following injury to Demetri Mitchell and coach Paul McGuinness feels he has turned a corner in terms of learning new facets of the game.

"Marcus has made big strides recently," McGuinness revealed to ManUtd.com. "I think all of them in this age group are maturing physically and mentally and I can see that in front of my own eyes. From the start of the season to now, he's made big strides.

"Quite a few players have but Marcus was one of those we were talking about. Last year, he played as a schoolboy up at Newcastle and we said afterwards: 'You just didn't know how hard it is to play at this level and play professional football, and how much you have to give yourself physically'.

"He didn't realise what this football was about - he felt it was nice to get hold of the ball and play but didn't realise you've got to run up, run back and do all that running. Now he has mentally turned a corner and was making some fantastic runs down the channel and over the top in the previous games and putting in a lot of work. He's turned the corner on that and has got a lot of potential physically as well.

"Quite a few of the group have and it is just starting to dawn on all of them exactly what potential they have got, which is good. Axel at the back has really good athleticism and is another one turning the corner."
