Manchester United may make the first serious offer for Southampton youngster Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain this month. United boss Sir Alex Ferguson made a personal check on Oxlade-Chamberlain on the weekend and came away impressed.
The Daily Mail says United are now considering an opening £5million offer with extra payments on appearances.
Liverpool are prepared to go to £10 million for the teen, though are yet to make a firm offer.
