Manchester United boss Sir Alex Ferguson has made a serious move for Chelsea contract rebel Ashley Cole.

The Daily Mail says Ferguson remains keen to replace Patrice Evra.

He joined the race to land Cole, whose contract expires at the end of the season, from Chelsea.

But it is looking increasingly likely that Cole will team-up with former boss Carlo Ancelotti at Paris St Germain ahead of next season.
