Manchester United and Liverpool are keeping tabs on Jermain Defoe's situation at Tottenham.

The Daily Mail says Darren Bent has agreed a move to Spurs from Charlton, which is sure to lead to speculation that Defoe will be made available.

Defoe's situation is sure to alert the likes of Manchester United and Liverpool, while Chelsea and Everton have been linked with the ex-West Ham striker.

However, Spurs will be forced to lower their £12m asking price if they are to attract interest from the Premier League's big guns, who do not view Defoe's capture as a top priority.
