Manchester United legend Edwin van der Sar was happy to see old friends in Stockholm for the Europa League final.

Van der Sar, now an Ajax director, revealed he spoke with United icons Sir Alex Ferguson and Sir Bobby Charlton.

He wrote for De Telegraaf: "We have spoken at length and it was wonderful to hear their admiration for the performance of Ajax over the whole European season.

"They find it nice that the club is again appealing in the international football world.

"Ferguson is supportive that former players like Dennis Bergkamp, Marc Overmars and I sit on places at Ajax, where we took our football background to actually affect business."
