Manchester United legend Sir Alex Ferguson admits he twice turned down the England job.
Ferguson says he was asked to become the England chief on two occasions but was never even remotely interested.
"It was dismissed right away - simply because when I think about it, the pressure on the manager is so huge," Ferguson told the Mirror.
"They spoke to me twice about it, but I was never close.
"So for me there was absolutely no way was I ever going to manage England — plus the fact I am Scottish."
He added: "It is an impossible job, to be honest. The pressure on the English manager is huge."
