Paul Scholes believes Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho should change his approach towards his young players.
The Red Devils' icon thinks the tension between Mourinho and his players was the principle reason for a trophy-less 2018/season.
The former midfielder was also not impressed by his old club's performance in a 1-0 defeat away to Brighton, but doesn't approve of Mourinho's reaction that followed.
He told talkSPORT: "It was not good enough. The players who replaced others did not perform at a good level and, when individuals do that, it is difficult for the team to play well.
"It's a little bit worrying, especially the comment after the Brighton game.
"These young players need an arm around them these days, they need a bit of love at times and they aren't really getting that. Would they improve if they get that? I hope that they would."
Scholes is also worried that prospects such as Anthony Martial and Marcus Rashford could continue their careers elsewhere.
"I know they're good players, they're really talented players," Scholes added.
"Those two especially, I just don't want them to be players who leave and turn out to be sensational, because you can easily see that happening."
