Manchester United legend Peter Schmeichel is returning to Old Trafford.

The Sun says the Great Dane is to take up a new role at Old Trafford - most likely as an ambassador for the Red Devils.

Schmeichel, 48, was United's greatest No 1, winning five Premier League titles, the Champions League, three FA Cups and a League Cup in his eight-year spell at the club.

In his final season, he played for Manchester City - but it is at United where he still enjoys hero status.
