Man Utd legend Schmeichel has sympathy for sacked Moyes

Manchester United legend Peter Schmeichel has sympathy for sacked manager David Moyes.

Schmeichel says Moyes always had a tough act to follow replacing Sir Alex Ferguson after 26 years in charge.

But he admitted to the Mirror: "It was an awful season last season. Finishing seventh only has one positive thing - that we are not playing in the Europa League and we can concentrate on the Premier League this season.

"For me, it was a one-off when everything went wrong for everybody. It was a new situation everyone found themselves in. Now the players are used to someone else being in charge.

"I think that is going to help (Louis) Van Gaal, that he is not the one who came after Sir Alex. And from having played in the Premier League myself it looks like he is a good guy for the job."
