Man Utd legend Robson: Valencia can't replace Ronaldo

Manchester United legend Bryan Robson says the imminent arrival of Antonio Valencia from Wigan Athletic won't be enough to replace Cristiano Ronaldo.

Robson said: "The one thing everyone has to realise is that United are not going to replace Ronaldo. He's a one-off.

"Valencia is a good winger but he's not going to score the goals Ronaldo did. It wouldn't surprise me if the boss brought in another winger, even if he got Valencia.

"That would leave Wayne Rooney free to play down the middle. In fact, I can see Wayne and Dimitar Berbatov coming out of Ronaldo's shadow."

Valencia most definitely will not replace Cristiano Ronaldo...i believe Valencia is more of a team player than a one man show...and this is a very important quality that Man Utd needs...i'm sure that Fergie will bring in more players and this as a whole will make United a different and much stronger side...

ManUre will be toothless next season with Valencia, Park, Nani as wingers. Sad descent.

With the onus of playing every attacking move through Cristiano Ronaldo now gone, don't be suprised if you see a more sayble midfield. Not that we weren't successful with Ronaldo's talent, it's just that our play became very predictable, and it cost us the champions league in some respects. The Beckham kind of winger is what we need again, someone who'll work towards creating goals. I still think Nani is the player to do that if he lets off on the showboating a tad. Valencia will prove to be a decent signing, he won't let us down and will play very honestly. He won't get the number 7 shirt though, I wouldn't be suprised if we didn't play with a number 7 next season. Particularly as the numebr 11 shirt is on the verge of being retired.
