Man Utd legend Robson ponders Powell loan question

Manchester United legend Bryan Robson is looking forward to watching Nick Powell's progress this season.

Robbo is a big fan of the young midfielder.

"I think we'll see strong performances from Phil Jones and Chris Smalling as their progress was interrupted with injuries and then it'll be really interesting for Nick Powell because he can be a really good player but didn't quite establish himself last year. So it's a big season for him," he told manutd.com.

On plans to loan out Powell this season, Robson added:

"I just think sometimes you don't make a decision on that until you get through pre-season and see how the lads performed in the matches.

"Then make a decision. Is it good for the player if he's not going to get in the first team straight away or is it best that he goes out on loan for maybe two or three months?

"Or you could wait until the January window and allow him to go out in six months and assess again whether you bring him back or whether he should stay out on loan. I think, with the younger players, you've got to assess it as it goes along rather than make a decision at this stage of the season."
