Man Utd legend Robson backs Fergie's thoughts on FA Cup semi-final

Manchester United legend Bryan Robson has echoed the sentiments of manager Sir Alex Ferguson regarding the FA Cup semi-final.

United meet crosstown rivals Manchester City at Wembley Stadium on April 16 and Ferguson feels that it could be a disaster with so much else happening in London that weekend, let alone 60,000 Mancunians making the trip south.

And now Robson, who is recovering well from an operation to remove a tumour from his throat, has weighed into the debate and has backed up Ferguson's assertions.

"Sir Alex is right to point these things out because of everything that is going on in London," he said.

"It will be a big problem for the police and there will be traffic issues as well.

"Maybe it would have been better playing at Villa Park, just to take a little bit of pressure away."

He also said that the FA Cup final should only be played at Wembley and not the two lead-up matches.

"I have always thought the final is the one that is played at Wembley," he added.

"The rest should be at a neutral ground. That is the prize for getting to the final."
