Man Utd legend Neville: England axing for Chelsea midfielder Lampard no big deal

Manchester United legend Gary Neville feels England's axing of Chelsea midfielder Frank Lampard is no big deal.

Neville wrote in his column for the Mail on Sunday: "Players get dropped all the time. It happens. Get used to it. In the last few weeks Rio Ferdinand, Carlos Tevez, Luis Suarez and Didier Drogba have all been left out of their club teams. That's the modern game. You need more than a first XI. Frank can deal with this and still play a big role in Euro 2012 next summer and in future tournaments. But the game now is about rotation and having more than 11 good players.

"And suddenly it looks as though there might be some depth to this England side, especially as Jack Wilshere and Steven Gerrard are still to come back in. With Tom Cleverley battling for a central midfield place alongside Lampard, Gareth Barry and Scott Parker, there is competition and the opportunity to rotate players."
