Man Utd legend Keane takes fresh aim at players after Ajax defeat

Manchester United legend Roy Keane has taken fresh aim at their performances in Europe.

Keane slated United for their elimination from the Champions League earlier this season and gave them both barrels again after defeat to Ajax.

He wrote in the Sun on Sunday: "Fergie decided to come out and take the blame and that seems to be the new trend among managers.

"I did it myself at Ipswich, because there are times you need to protect the players and, ultimately, as manager you are responsible for results. But players have to take responsibility for their performances and the one on Thursday night wasn't good enough.

"OK, there were a lot of changes but there were still eight senior internationals in the starting XI. They should have done better than they did.

"United have picked up some bad habits in Europe. They conceded three at home against Basel and two against Benfica and now Ajax.

"In each of those three games, they were ahead at one point but failed to win - and that will be worrying."
