Ryan Giggs believes Sir Alex Ferguson and Louis van Gaal are similar in the way they go about management.

The Manchester United assistant worked with Ferguson for his entire playing career and has spent the past 12 months under the tutelage of Dutchman van Gaal who arrived at Old Trafford last summer.

While Fergie and LVG may be different in their approach, Giggs feels the two great bosses have a comparable outlook on how they want to achieve success.

"They are different people, but the basics are the same. Their principles are the same - they want to play attacking football, and bring young players through," said Giggs.

"They are leaders and everyone knows that. They both have the calmness they bring with their knowledge and experience."
