Manchester United legend Ryan Giggs has declared Real Madrid attacker Gareth Bale as Wales' greatest ever player.
Bale claimed his fourth Champions League success with Madrid on Saturday, a feat which puts the 28-year-old level with Phil Neal as British football's record European winner.
“He's the greatest. I didn't see John Charles play and many others around that time, but Gareth is the greatest I've seen," Wales coach Giggs said ahead of his team's clash with Mexico in Pasadena.
“Great players turn up at the right moment and make the difference and Gareth has done it twice now in Champions League finals. To go to Madrid and be so successful means he's the best.
“Our team and all the staff were watching the game in the team hotel and when the goal went in, the room erupted. It was an amazing goal just a couple of minutes having come on.
“But you're not surprised because of what Gareth is capable of and what he's already achieved."
