Manchester United legend Sir Alex Ferguson popped up at Wigan Athletic training on Friday.

The Sun says he made a shock appearance at Wigan's training HQ to give old pal Warren Joyce a boost.

The former Manchester United chief turned up to see his former under 21 coach and his players before their crunch clash at Fulham.

A Wigan insider said: “It was a big surprise to see Sir Alex at training.

“It had the place talking and buzzing."

Wigan are currently second bottom of the Championship, five points from safety.
