Manchester United legend Rio Ferdinand says Fernando Torres has rediscovered his mojo because Atletico Madrid suit his style.
Torres joined Chelsea at the peak of his powers from Liverpool in a £50million deal.
The Spanish striker however bore the brunt of the fans' frustrations at Stamford Bridge and left on a free transfer last year.
Torres impressed during Atletico's 1-0 win over Bayern Munich last night in the first leg of their Champions League semi-final.
“It's his kind of football," Ferdinand said when asked about the system that most suits Torres.
“He needed to play counter-attack football. Gerrard at Liverpool used to get the ball.
“First thought, one touch, in behind the centre halves he was playing against.
“He went to Chelsea and they played ball-retention football. It didn't suit him.
“His hold-up play isn't his strength. He hasn't got a great touch.
“He's more comfortable running on to things. He didn't get that opportunity at Chelsea.
“That's why he was probably a failure there."
