Manchester United legend Paddy Crerand says the club has got it wrong in selling Cristiano Ronaldo to Real Madrid for a world record £80 million. He said: "I don't think it's a good deal. Fans are more interested in trophies than money. If this happens the supporters will turn round and blame the people in America.
"I'll be severely disappointed if he goes because he's a magnificent player. He's a really nice lad as well."
Crerand poured cold water on assertions that Ronaldo supported Real as a youngster.
"I keep hearing his boyhood heroes were Real Madrid," he added. "His boyhood heroes were not Real Madrid, his team as a kid were Benfica."
