Manchester United legend Sir Bobby Charlton is confident Sire Alex Ferguson won't interfere in football matters in retirement.

Ferguson will take his new role as a director and ambassador when he retires next week.

Charlton, an Old Trafford legend, said: "Alex Ferguson doesn't work like that. He won't interfere. He is famed for his decision-making and this will be just another decision.

"Will he find it easy to do less? No, not really. He will have a chance to contribute to the club as he has always done. But he will not interfere.

"I am a director but I hardly do anything because we are winning all the time and it is all down to Sir Alex Ferguson.

"He loves the game and we at the club have had nothing to do really."
