Manchester United have an ambassador's role waiting for Everton striker Wayne Rooney.
The Daily Star says the England and United record goalscorer agreed to take the role when he signed his last contract extension at Old Trafford in 2014.
His decision to join Everton in the summer means United are no longer contracted to give him the ambassadorial position when he retires.
But with his image being tarnished after he was banned from driving for two years and handed 100 hours of community service work, United bosses are still prepared to give him the £100,000-a-year role as reward for his contribution to the club.
