Man Utd, LA Galaxy great Beckham close to announcing Miami stadium plans

David Beckham's plans to bring a MLS franchise to Miami is about to have some new life breathed into it.

The former Manchester United and LA Galaxy star has had a couple of proposed sites for a soccer-specific stadium in Miami's downtown rejected as he continues to work alongside Bolivian billionaire Marcelo Claure and business partner Simon Fuller in launching a team in South Florida.

With possible regional rivals Orlando City SC starting to ramp up their plans for the 2015 MLS season, Beckham has been left to ponder a possible site for his club's stadium, telling EOnline that things were starting to look a little clearer.

"We're pretty close to announcing certain things and then the stadium will come after that," he said.

"You can't build a stadium overnight, so finding the right site, finding the right place in Miami is important for us. But it will all start coming together pretty quickly and everything will start happening pretty soon.

"I'm really excited about that. Being an ex-soccer player to have my own team, I'm excited about that."
