Man Utd kid Brandy delighted with Swansea strike

Manchester United striker Fabien Brandy has quickly won over Swansea City fans after netting a late winner against Oldham Athletic on Saturday.

Brandy celebrated the biggest goal of his young career with some spectacular Lomana LuaLua-style somersaults in front of the West Stand.

"I've been doing back-flips since I was a kid," Brandy grinned, "but that's the biggest crowd I've ever done them in front of.

"I have done them to celebrate a goal on special occasions in the past, like when I scored for United in the opening game of the World Under-20 Championships against Porto.

"I did them again here because that's definitely one of the most important goals I've ever scored, if not the most important. I'm here on loan to try to score goals and help Swansea get promoted, so I was delighted with that one because it gave us victory in a difficult game."

Brandy, who now has two Swansea goals despite not yet starting a game for the club, had only been on the pitch two minutes when he struck to see off a stubborn Oldham Athletic side.

And he revealed how the strike, almost his first touch, was thanks in part to nine years schooling at Old Trafford.

"At United you are always told to be prepared when you're on the bench," he told the South Wales Evening Post. "They tell you that you could be on at any minute and that you have to be ready to take your chance.

"Any time I come on as a substitute I always believe I can score. As a striker you are often put on to try to change the game, and quite often you only get once chance to do that.

"That's how it happened this time and thankfully I scored because the crowd were expecting us to win. It was an indescribable feeling when it went in."
