Man Utd keeper Romero shocked by Mourinho Euro backing

Manchester United goalkeeper Sergio Romero is shocked he will play in the Europa League final against Ajax.

Romero has been assured by manager Mourinho that he will resist the temptation to bring in No.1 David de Gea for the clash with Dutch giants Ajax in Stockholm a week on Wednesday that will define United's season.

He said: “I can't believe the manager has said I will play in the final. I am very happy with this.

“I work every day to play and when I arrive at the weekend and I don't play, I go to my house very down. But inside I have the determination to continue, to fight every time, because I am the No.1 in Argentina.

"This is my position, this is my mentality, my level.

"It is not easy for the manager because when you don't play a lot of games, it is difficult for him to say, 'This keeper plays and this keeper does not play'. But I have confidence in myself and when I play I am searching for the confidence of the manager and the players.

“This is my mentality. I am strong like this. Maybe I don't play for two months but I am ready for this match."
