Manchester United goalkeeper Anders Lindegaard has pulled out of the Denmark squad with an ankle strain.

The move is a precaution after the Manchester United keeper was forced to sit it out from January to the end of last season with ligament damage.

Lindegaard, who has shared the United No 1 spot with David De Gea this term, said: "People are used to teams having a keeper who plays every game. But that's not possible in modern football."
