Manchester United goalkeeper Anders Lindegaard holds no grudge against former club Odense.
Odense offloaded Lindegaard to Aalesunds for chump change - where he became a Denmark international and earned his move to Old Trafford.
He told the Manchester Evening News: "I was sold for pennies to Aalesund because Odense made a mistake.
"But you can find TV interviews from when I played in the First Division in Denmark as a 24-year-old where I am saying into the camera without blinking that I want to play in the Danish national team and I want to represent Manchester United.
"I honestly believed I had the ability to do it. I had never been tried on the highest level of Scandinavian football but I always believed it was possible. Sometimes it has been hard to see the clear path but deep inside myself I always believed in could happen.
"Odense made a huge mistake, one of the biggest mistakes in the club's history. Why did they make that mistake? That is a very good question and if I could answer it I could be the sports director and manager of that club.
"One reason is Odense has a history of playing old players and not giving young players a shot. There was also an unlucky situation when I was injured in unfortunate circumstances just before we played a Europa Cup qualifier. It was a very important match for the club and I was injured. The reserve keeper was injured as well, so the club had to act.
"They could have found someone cheaper than Roy Carroll but he was brought in as one of the biggest names in Danish football and as one of the best- paid players.
"When they brought him in I put two and two together and realised I was not going to make my way there. I went to the directors' office and asked them to sell me because I couldn't see me succeeding at the club. Luckily, they accepted my wish and I was sold a week later to Aalesund. The rest of the story is like a football fairytale!
"I wasn't very low when it happened. I was very angry with the people who didn't believe in me and I was very angry with the people making that decision. One of my strengths in the last two years has been to keep my eye on the next training session and the next match and not to get carried away with anything or be down about something.
"It was also a great ability to have during that process when I was sold by Odense.
"I speak to a lot of the people still at Odense. The people that didn't believe in me are no longer there. They were fired."
