Man Utd keeper De Gea: Strange Casillas not in Spain squad

Manchester United goalkeeper David de Gea was pleased with his cleansheet in Spain's 8-0 rout of Liechtenstein.

De Gea appears to be the first-choice keeper for Spain coach Julen Lopetegui.

"From day one, Lopetegui has always given me confidence, but I always come with the intention to train in the best way possible," he said at the final whistle.

Asked about the absence of Real Madrid legend Iker Casillas, De Gea said of the Porto veteran: "He was the captain and it is a bit strange to be without him."

And on Chelsea striker Diego Costa, after his two goals, he added: "He was already scoring goals with his team and today has scored two.

"He is a great player and has shown this. He will continue to do so."
