Manchester United goalkeeper David De Gea is determined to make the most of his first call up to the Spain squad.
De Gea is in Spain's senior squad this week for their World Cup qualifiers with Finland and France, in the absence of Iker Casillas, who is out with a hand problem.
Although he is unlikely to figure with Barcelona's Victor Valdes and Liverpool's Pepe Reina also in the squad, De Gea is glad to get the chance to impress national team boss Vincente Del Bosque at close quarters. He said: "I am very pleased and happy.
"This is a special moment for me and a big step in my career. I will try to do my best to impress the boss.
"I want to enjoy this and learn from my team-mates, who are my and many other people's idols.
"It's a pity Iker Casillas is out. We all know he is our captain and a legend but I'm happy to be here, even if it's because of his injury."
