Manchester United are set to battle it out with Tottenham for West Bromwich Albion's Saido Berahino.

According to Italian publication Tuttomercatoweb, United have the 22-year-old striker on their winter transfer list and are expected to make a move for him in January.

Louis van Gaal wants to provide further competition for Wayne Rooney and Anthony Martial and believes Berahino would strengthen his title-chasing squad.

However, the Red Devils will have to go up against Spurs who have been heavily linked with the unsettled youngster since before the summer.

Tottenham went after Berahino on a number of occasions and despite being continually rebuffed by Albion, are likely to go after his services in a couple of months' time.
