The France defender has been linked with United this week, where United boss Jose Mourinho would be willing to see his €80m buyout clause matched.

Aware of the sudden Premier League interest, Atletico have moved to open new contract talks with Lucas' minders.

Atletico want to extend the deal a further year to 2024 and raise his buyout clause to €150m.
