Man Utd icons Giggs, Keane exchange digs after Wales defeat

Manchester United legends Ryan Giggs and Roy Keane enjoyed a bit of banter on ITV last night.

The Sunday World reports Giggs and Keane covered Wales' Euros defeat to Portugal.

And the Welshman was quick to turn his attentions to the World Cup qualifiers coming up in the autumn.

Wales find themselves in a Russia 2018 qualifying group featuring a Republic of Ireland side that look set to still have the influence of Keane on the coaching staff, with Giggs offering up this quip to snipe at his old pal.

“It's a nice easy group," says Giggs, with a mischievous smile on his face, with his comment inspiring Keane to offer up a manly slap on the leg of the United legend, with smiles all round in a studio panel that was completed by Lee Dixon and Craig Bellamy.

Meanwhile, Keane offered up a pretty damning verdict on the Welsh effort in their loss to Portugal, as he pulled few punches with this typically feisty assessment.

“Wales can have no complaints," stated Keane after their Euro 2016 exit.

“They have been fantastic and surprised everyone by getting to the semi-final, but they lacked real quality (against Portugal).

“Their manager said before the game to have no regrets, but I think they will. They were never on the front foot and started playing when they were 2-0 down. It was a bit of a cop-out, but start of the tournament, they would have taken semi-final obviously."
